INTRODUCTION
The Lao Phuan live in Laos, while another large group live in the neighboring country of Thailand. Both groups speak Phuan, a language that belongs to the Chiang Saeng branch of the Diac language family. In Thailand, the term Lao phuan usually means "transported Lao," and refers to any Lao-speaking person. However, the Lao Phuan are a distinct, socially prominent ethnic group who value their own language and identity.
WHAT ARE THEIR BELIEFS?
While the Lao Phuan of Thailand are primarily Buddhist, nearly all of the Lao Phuan in Laos practice traditional ethnic religions. Many of them have mixed Buddhism with folk animism, a practice in which they seek help through the worship of spirits and objects. They believe in "guardian spirits" and "locality spirits," which are identified with different levels of society. They believe that one must please these spirits in order to avoid curses and receive blessings.
PRAYER POINTS
1.) Ask the Lord to send laborers who can minister the love of Jesus to the Lao Phuan.
2.) Pray that God will give the Lao Phuan believers boldness to share Christ with their own people.
3.) Ask God to raise up prayer teams who will begin breaking up the soil through worship and intercession.
4.) Ask the Lord to bring forth a triumphant Lao Phuan church for the glory of His name!
INTRODUCTION
The Tau't Bato are still practicing a primitive lifestyle. The men are still wearing G-strings made of bark and cloth while the women are wearing a skirt made of a piece of cloth to cover their lower body. Most of them are half naked, but because of the outside influence through trade, women are beginning to wear a blouse.
BACKGROUND
The Tau't Bato are cultivators who practice multiple cropping with cassava as the major product. They also plant sweet potato, sugarcane, malunggay, garlic, pepper, string beans, squash, tomato, pineapple and other plants which will grown on their farms. They are also fond of hunting and foraging in order to supply their need for more carbohydrates. Wild pigs are the most hunted animals.
PRAYER POINTS
1.) The Tau't Bato community is an unreached territory. Although the population is very small, they need a spiritual leader and a church. The Tau't Bato people are waiting for anyone who can introduce them to the Savior of mankind.
2.) Perhaps because of their late exposure to modern civilization, there is a great need for LITERACY MINISTRY among them. This could pave the way towards their spiritual salvation.
3.) As the community becomes open to modernity, the people must be protected from the abrupt changes that they may experience in the future. There must be enough time to prepare them for modernization.
